Mother's Day Celebration

Benjamin Orian
On Mother’s Day, we celebrate mother’s and motherhood. But for some women, it is a tough day. A quick look at our culture shows that the idealized images of motherhood portrayed in media are inaccurate—and the Bible reveals the same. Ruth was left childless early, Rachel, Hannah, and Sarah were infertile. Eve and Mary lost their boys in tragic circumstances. The Bible tells the same stories that we see in our churches and in our world: It's the story of women in diverse life circumstances, sometimes thriving, sometimes barely coping, and sometimes going under. Today we honor the total commitment women have made, whether they are biological parents, or just adoptive, and the immeasurable value faithful Mothers are to God, to us, and to our children. Today, we recognize and celebrate the unique task God has given to the ladies, and we thank Him for our Mothers.
